Health Mark BT22000 MMA Dual Pad Kick Boxing Station with Speed Bag Review

This product looked so cool in the picture that I just had to get it. I am a little disappointed though.

Cons:
1) It's too short
The description says that the height varies from 48-56 inches. This measurement is obviously not from the floor to the top of the "head" or speed bag. I guess maybe that is true if you have the arms pointed straigh up. When I use it, I feel a little like Kramer in that episode of Seinfeld where he is fighting those little kids in karate class.

2) The pole spins when you hit the arms
As the previous reviewer pointed out, when you hit one of the hand targets, the whole this spins (sometimes upto 180 degrees). I am guy, but not an expert at martial arts. So I hit and kick harder than a child, but I am not crushing it. The problem is that you have to reset the arms after every strike. It breaks up the continuity of the workout.

3) The spring on the punching bag seems too long.
When you give the bag a good bop, it doesn't bounce back very quickly. So, don't expect to do much speed work with it.

4) It's a little more cheaply made than I expected
The punching bag is thick rubber/vynil, so I am not afraid of popping it, but it is not the same material that you see in other speed bags. The hand targets are not even close to the quality of the paddle targets that we use in our taekwondo class. That may be why they designed it to spin. Still, I am not terribly afraid of breaking it in the next few weeks or anything.

Final Word
I got this to use at home because I don't really have anyone to hold paddle targets for me. If I can figure out a way to make it stop spinning when I kick it, then I will be much happier.

Century Wavemaster XXL Training Bag Review

If your options are limited.

There's no replacement for a high quality banana bag but if you have no place to hang one or fear knocking the beams down from the ceiling in the garage, this is a really great option.

The bag itself is relatively light & a bit softer than I'd like it to be, but when the base is filled, it definitely stands up to whatever punishment you can dish at it. There is a bit of play (maybe an inch or so) which tends to loosen the more you kick or punch. (Though a quick twist of the bag on the base will eliminate the additional movement) That being said, here is a warning for you... If you like throwing elbows, either have a partner support the bag, or get in closer than you would a typical hanging bag. Reason being, if you stand too far out when you strike, the bag will move an inch or so away from you leaving a nice streak of skin from your now friction burned elbow. Knees are somewhat similar as well but without the burn. At the standard distance, you may as well throw knees at a curtain hanging in your hallway. In order to feel the bag, you'll need to get much closer which is a big awkward standing practically flush to the base. This could be detrimental to your training so it would be wise to grab a partner & hit the Thai pads so you get a little variation.

All in all, it does everything I need it to do. It tends to move all around the mats in my garage, even when completely filled but I don't really mind. Forces me to work the bag from all angles & whack it where I want it to go. I can practice all of my standard Muay Thai drills without a partner considering the fairly large surface area. Low kicks which you'd typically do w/ a partner holding a Leg Kick Pad, punches, elbows, knees, etc... Most importantly, I cannot kick it down. If you can kick this thing down, you should try out for the UFC or potentially as a Placekicker for the NFL. Better yet, go to the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, Wisconsin & blow away the competition by kicking trees down w/ your bare shins.

Suggestions: If they could build a non-slip base, eliminate the play & stiffen up the bag to simulate a heavy-bag feel, this would definitely be a true banana bag replacement...Regardless, there aren't any freestanding bags like this on the market & Amazon has the most competitive price with free shipping. Awesome...

TKO 502CS-50 5-Piece Double-End Canvas 50-Pound Heavy Bag Set Review

The bag is about as small as heavy bags get. Make no mistake, it's definitely a heavy bag. I had to use all my strength to hang it. The bag isn't plastic. It's more like denim. Very tough. Stitching seems like it may fail in a few years, but maybe not.

The hardware for hanging seems appropriate. I hang mine from a 2x10 ceiling joist about a foot away from my main I beam support for the house. It uses 4 thick lag screws. When I use it, my wife says the whole house shakes and it hasn't fallen. I think she's exaggerating. I'm not Mike Tyson. I don't secure the bottom, so it can swing a couple of feet at the bottom.

The jump rope is plastic junk.

The gloves are a joke. I don't know how many oz they are, but they feel like 4 oz. There's almost no padding. You can use them, but your knuckles may be sore after 5 or so minutes of hard punching. I suggest getting real gloves like 12 oz or heavier. The wraps are pretty standard.

I wanted something inexpensive and not too heavy and I got it. The kids love kicking and punching it.

Century Aerobic Wavemaster Review

I bought this for my 9yrs old son to use for karate and kickboxing. Works better then I thought it would. I hit it with all of my force and won't move an inch. The pad is strong and absorbs kicks and punches well. The only complain I have is the hole to put in the sand in is a little small. It took an hour to fill; but once filled its great. You can adjust the height so if I use it to exercise it won't be too small. This is a great punching bag. I highly recommend it.

I've had this bag for a while.I use it at least 3-5 times a week and it still looks almost brand new.I think this is the best 100lb bag I've used, even out of the ones at my gym.I was deciding between this one and the 100 lb everlast nevatear, but I always see those duct taped up and with holes in them.I would say spend the extra $25 for this one...much better!

Everlast 4004 Traditional Heavy Bag (40 lb.) Review

It's a great, sturdy punching bag that never rips. But, the picture you see is either the 60,70,or 80 pound bag, the bag you get is about half the size of the one in the picture. Other than that it's perfect, I recommend gloves or bands to avoid burnned knuckles.

Although they claim that this item can be used by adults, it is the furthest thing from the truth.You can only fill the black bottom HALF up with water, which you wouldn't know until you buy it.Due to this, you can't do any combonations with this bag as you knock on its' side with even the most mild of punches. Also, after a few hits, it rips open like your fists were made of nails even with gloves on.

The only reason why this purchase was made was due to the fact that I have no where to hang my actual heavybag in my apartment. This is not even remotely a replacment for a real bag.Save your twenty five dollars for something else.

Large All Purpose 13"/40" Boxing Heavy Duty Canvas Punching Bag with Chain Review

I wanted a cheap heavy bag, and this was the cheapest I could find. And wow, did I get what I paid for.

I don't know if it was only my bag or if they're all this fragile, but I no more got my bag filled with sand than the zipper just popped off. There was no stress being put on the zipper at any time; my friend was holding it lower than that.

I'm returning it and I'm just going to wait until I can save up for a better heavy bag. I can't recommend this product.

I have owned this item for about 5 years and it is still going strong.I use it for about 20-45 mins/ day about 4-5 times per week.

Bare knuckle or with gloves.I primarily do boxing workouts but it has seen its fair share of kicks, knees and elbows and never seen a tear or a worn spot.

The padding is about 4" thick and beneath is a solid plastic ring that alows you to adjust the height.This is also what keeps it from getting worn spots like a regular punching bag.

I used to work out at a friends house who had a 40lb everlast hanging bag and after a few months we tore it and had to hold it together with duct tape, which made us all sticky after every workout.

You can fill the base with water or sand, i have never filled it up all the way, but its pretty stable.If you cant use a hose and have it inside i made a funnel by cutting the bottom off of a 2 liter coke bottle andrunning back and forth to the bath tub with milk jugs.

Great product for anyone not wanting to drill holes in their ceiling to hang a regular punching bag.

Everlast Heavy Bag Hanger Review

Yes, when you hit the bag it does spin (every heavy bag is going to spin unless you use a 4 point hanging system) and it will spin and eventually untighten the bolt at the top no matter how much you tighten it even with the locking washer in place.Period.

Solution: Buy a locking nut (it has nylon at the top that locks it in place) and use two nuts (the supplied one and the locking one) plus the locking washer.

Details: The supplied nut goes on first but don't thread it all the way down to the bracket.Leave some space for the thing to spin freely.Next, put on the locking washer supplied.Next, put on the locking nut and tighten all 3 together leaving space for the assembly to spin.

This will never come loose on it's own if the nuts are tightened properly since the space left means that there is no friction with the bracket.

Thanks to those mentioning the issue with the threads on the cross bolt tearing through the hook.I'm going to find another bolt that works or add a sleeve to the supplied bolt.

This hanger is fine (sturdy) but only giving it 3 stars since the hardware they supplied is not that well thought out.They should have supplied a metal sleeve for the cross bolt and the additional locking nut.

Everlast 4008 80-Pound Traditional Heavy Bag Review

I too recieved this bag in a box semi-beaten up, but then again an 80 pound item in a lightweight cardboard box is bound to cause a little box damage. And no there was no interior protective bag, and my chain pack was tied with pink ribbon.
Now to the bag itself... The toughest, most well filled, and economical bags I have ever seen. I use light bag gloves and with the amount of filling and it's density I can punch for hours (If I had the stamina :) ), without getting the sore knuckles or the wrist pain that I used to get from denser packed bags. Plus it's an Everlast!!! This is a must buy for anyone who is looking for a heavy bag. Good luck and TRAIN HARD!!!

About Everlast
The name Everlast is synonymous with boxing. Renown internationally as a manufacturer of boxing equipment, Everlast started out as a swimwear manufacturer in 1910. Headquartered in the Bronx, NY, the company was founded by 17-year-old Jacob Golomb. The son of a tailor and an avid swimmer, Jacob Golomb was dissatisfied with the durability of swimsuits because they barely lasted a season, so he began making suits that he guaranteed would last for a full year. He proudly gave them the name, Everlast. Although the swimsuits did not last through the years, the name did.
Over the next years, Golomb expanded his company into a small retail store that carried a full line of sports equipment. In 1917, a young fighter named Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb and Everlast. Dempsey asked Golomb to construct protective headgear that would last more than 15 rounds of intensive boxing training. Golomb specially designed the training gear for Dempsey. In 1919, Dempsey won the world's heavyweight championship wearing boxing gloves made for him by Golomb. Everlast became the headquarters for boxing equipment throughout the world. In 1925, Golomb designed elastic-waist trunks to replace the leather-belted trunks then worn by boxers. These trunks, now known as boxer trunks, immediately became famous. Jacob Golomb ran the business until he passed away in the early 1950's and his son, Dan, took over. In 1958, Ben Nadorf joined Everlast and purchased 50% of the company from the Golomb family. When Dan Golomb passed away in 1995, Nadorf purchased the family's remaining 50% interest. Nadorf remained the President and Principle Share Holder of Everlast until October 24, 2000.
Everlast men's and women's apparel and accessories continue today to be tremendously successful both inside and outside the ring. In addition, Everlast boxing trunks and equipment remain the proud and undefeated champion of the boxing industry for more than 90 years. The history continues, as the name states. Everlast has a traditional past and a knockout future.
