Warrior Legged Throwing Dummy & Heavy Bag Review

Warrior Legged Throwing Dummy & Heavy BagAwesome! I just received the Warrior throwing dummy/heavy bag today. I have seen several different training dummies over the years (my friend/training partner has a Bubba dummy), but the Warrior dummy is the first one I've seen that can be hung like a heavy bag, or used for throws, armbar drills, shoot-style takedowns, ground and pound, limb destructions, etc etc. The dummy is made of really thick material with reinforced stitching, and the hoops that he can be hung from are stitched from the top of the head clear down to the hips. I'm very impressed with how well this thing is made! When hanging like a heavy bag, the dummy's arms are in a pretty good position to simulate an actual opponent. The ends of the arms are balled like fists which is pretty realistic and good for training hand/limb destructions, and grabbing above the 'fist' gives a realistic grip point which feels just like grabbing a person's wrist for certain throws (one-arm hip throws, maki-komi, etc). I bought the 100 pound dummy; it says on the Amazon listing that it is 68" tall, but mine is marked (and measures) 72" tall. And it is DEFINATELY 100 pounds! A good session of throws with this guy will make for a great workout! These things aren't dirt cheap, but are worth the investment if you are into martial art training. I'm 40 years old now, and to be honest the benefit of a training dummy becomes more apparent with age...now my training partners and I can work some technique on each other for skill honing (because NO dummy is exactly like working against 'live' opponents), then go nuts on the dummy for repetition work. Ahhh. Call me wimpy, but taking hard repetitive throws for an hour seems to hurt a little more nowadays...so I'm very happy with this dummy and recommend it! A great aid for training and teaching!
And oh, my UPS man had a good laugh over this thing when he brought it.... "I don't even want to know, man....I don't even want to know" he said. LOL! So I demo'd a few throws and he seemed to think it was pretty cool.

Everlast Freestanding Heavy Bag Review

Everlast Freestanding Heavy BagI had the same experience that the dude before experinced with the whole sliding around the carpet thing, but the screws on my bag are still going strong after hitting the bag everyday for months. I even took it apart to see if the screws were digging into the plastic & there were no signs of "digging," since there are rubber sleeves that go over the screws to help protect the plastic from any of that. As far as the performance of the bag....I love the whole spring action thing it's got. The workout you get on this bag is better than a regular freestanding bag due to the spring action. The combonations you can throw on this thing are phenomenal and you don't have to worry about it tipping over after your power punch. Nothing can beat a hanging bag, but this is the best alternative especially if you live in a small apartment or a dormitory like me.

About Everlast
The name Everlast is synonymous with boxing. Renown internationally as a manufacturer of boxing equipment, Everlast started out as a swimwear manufacturer in 1910. Headquartered in the Bronx, NY, the company was founded by 17-year-old Jacob Golomb. The son of a tailor and an avid swimmer, Jacob Golomb was dissatisfied with the durability of swimsuits because they barely lasted a season, so he began making suits that he guaranteed would last for a full year. He proudly gave them the name, Everlast. Although the swimsuits did not last through the years, the name did.
Over the next years, Golomb expanded his company into a small retail store that carried a full line of sports equipment. In 1917, a young fighter named Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb and Everlast. Dempsey asked Golomb to construct protective headgear that would last more than 15 rounds of intensive boxing training. Golomb specially designed the training gear for Dempsey. In 1919, Dempsey won the world's heavyweight championship wearing boxing gloves made for him by Golomb. Everlast became the headquarters for boxing equipment throughout the world. In 1925, Golomb designed elastic-waist trunks to replace the leather-belted trunks then worn by boxers. These trunks, now known as boxer trunks, immediately became famous. Jacob Golomb ran the business until he passed away in the early 1950's and his son, Dan, took over. In 1958, Ben Nadorf joined Everlast and purchased 50% of the company from the Golomb family. When Dan Golomb passed away in 1995, Nadorf purchased the family's remaining 50% interest. Nadorf remained the President and Principle Share Holder of Everlast until October 24, 2000.
Everlast men's and women's apparel and accessories continue today to be tremendously successful both inside and outside the ring. In addition, Everlast boxing trunks and equipment remain the proud and undefeated champion of the boxing industry for more than 90 years. The history continues, as the name states. Everlast has a traditional past and a knockout future.

Everlast EverFlex Freestanding Heavy Bag (Black) Review

Everlast EverFlex Freestanding Heavy BagI have been a chinese martial arts and kickboxing practitioner for around 5 years now and I bought this bag to use at home for combo drills and workouts.I guess I should have seen it coming but the stand snapped just above the base during my second workout.I train to generate power which means I don't tap the bag, I actually hit it.So if you plan to use the bag for anything other than basic cardio work, don't bother.

Everlast Youth Inflatable Training Bag - Black/ Yellow Review

Everlast Youth Inflatable Training Bag - Black/ YellowThe training bag arrived in good time and was pretty easy to assemble. The instructions say not to use an automatic pump but we did and that helped speed the inflating process up - just be careful not to pop the bag if you choose to do this.

I bought the bag for my daughter so she could practice kicks and punches for karate. She loves it. And uses it quite often.

Health Mark BT22000 MMA Dual Pad Kick Boxing Station with Speed Bag Review

Health Mark BT22000 MMA Dual Pad Kick Boxing Station with Speed BagThis product looked so cool in the picture that I just had to get it. I am a little disappointed though.

Cons:
1) It's too short
The description says that the height varies from 48-56 inches. This measurement is obviously not from the floor to the top of the "head" or speed bag. I guess maybe that is true if you have the arms pointed straigh up. When I use it, I feel a little like Kramer in that episode of Seinfeld where he is fighting those little kids in karate class.

2) The pole spins when you hit the arms
As the previous reviewer pointed out, when you hit one of the hand targets, the whole this spins (sometimes upto 180 degrees). I am guy, but not an expert at martial arts. So I hit and kick harder than a child, but I am not crushing it. The problem is that you have to reset the arms after every strike. It breaks up the continuity of the workout.

3) The spring on the punching bag seems too long.
When you give the bag a good bop, it doesn't bounce back very quickly. So, don't expect to do much speed work with it.

4) It's a little more cheaply made than I expected
The punching bag is thick rubber/vynil, so I am not afraid of popping it, but it is not the same material that you see in other speed bags. The hand targets are not even close to the quality of the paddle targets that we use in our taekwondo class. That may be why they designed it to spin. Still, I am not terribly afraid of breaking it in the next few weeks or anything.

Final Word
I got this to use at home because I don't really have anyone to hold paddle targets for me. If I can figure out a way to make it stop spinning when I kick it, then I will be much happier.

Product Description:
An ideal kickboxing trainer for weight loss and cardiovascular health, the Health Mark BT22000 dual-pad kickboxing station offers a pair of padded arms along the sides and an inflatable speed bag in the middle, giving you several punching and kicking targets. The pair of foam-padded arms is fully adjustable, so you can position them at a 45-degree angle up, a 45-degree angle down, or horizontal. As a result, you can design several different workouts depending on which muscles you want to exercise. The inflatable speed bag, meanwhile, is equipped with a foam-covered coil spring that provides outstanding reflex action. Perhaps best of all, the kickboxing station sports six height positions--from 46 to 56 inches--helping it accommodate both children and adults. Other details include a 48-inch wingspan, soft vinyl-covered target zones on the pads to cushion the fists, a pump for the speed bag, and a stabilizing base that holds either water or sand.

Everlast Inflatable Punching Bags Review

Everlast Inflatable Punching BagsAlthough they claim that this item can be used by adults, it is the furthest thing from the truth. You can only fill the black bottom HALF up with water, which you wouldn't know until you buy it.Due to this, you can't do any combonations with this bag as you knock on its' side with even the most mild of punches. Also, after a few hits, it rips open like your fists were made of nails even with gloves on.

The only reason why this purchase was made was due to the fact that I have no where to hang my actual heavybag in my apartment. This is not even remotely a replacment for a real bag.Save your twenty five dollars for something else.

One on One Punching Bag Work Out for Self Defense Review

One on One Punching Bag Work Out for Self DefensePHYSICAL SUCCESS, INC. produced this superb DVD featuring the renowned MARTIAL ARTS and street fighting expert Rob Rolson(one BAD A**, I might add). This video has a good pace, excellent instruction- the narration explains exactly what techniques are being employed and for what purpose(no fancy terms that one has to be fluent in Karate to understand). The training session is with a BOB(a life-like "person" (manequin))and a punching bag. The video is suitable for the novice, intermediate and advanced alike, and also is a tremendous workout! Highly recommended- you will not be bored or feel out of step with the instruction . Note: Mostly upper body(torso) is focused here, with a few "knees" thrown in(although Rob Rolson is a Black Belt, and could easily 'go there').Howeverany more would be overload, and would detract from the main focus: practical self defense:punching; hands to the face;"elbows";and much more.
Martial arts and terrefic cardio/muscle training work out for a "knock out" price. I'm surprised no one has reviewed this DVD sooner. Areal GEM.
