Canvas Boxing Bag 70 lbs. (EA) Review

Canvas Boxing Bag 70 lbs.I actually found mine used on ebay for a fraction of this price but believe me the price on amazon is the best around expecially as it's NEW. My only other heavy bag experience was with a vinyl type cover (a friend let me borrow it) and it was plenty sturdy but I was unsure of how the canvas would stand up to the elements as I didn't have room in the house and would have to keep mine outside (I cover it with a tarp so it doesn't get wet).Well over 1 year later my Everlast 70# canvas bag is just as strong as the first day I got it!If you have doubts, let them end here and take the plunge, you'll be glad you did.

Punching Bags 'A Way of Fitness' DVDThe DVD looks like a transfer from an old VHS recording. Quality is seriously lacking and the material is dated. The information is ok but could be priced much lower.

Everlast Women's Pro Style Training Gloves Review

Everlast Women's Pro Style Training GlovesThese gloves are an excellent purchase for anyone who is in a boxing or kickboxing class or for the casual user who likes to hit the bag at home.I'm a small girl (5'3), with small hands, but after trying on the 12oz gloves at the store, I opted to purchase the 14oz ones off of Amazon instead.I'm extremely glad that I did because my hands fit inside the 14oz gloves perfectly whether I'm wearing wraps or not, whereas my fingers were a little cramped inside the 12oz gloves when I didn't have wraps on. The padding on the gloves is exceptional, I never hurt my hands hitting the bag or during drills in class. The color has gotten me quite a few compliments, however the one minor complaint I have is that there is no headgear to match.Everlast makes camouflage, yellow, red, blue, and black gloves all with matching headgear, however their pink gloves do not come with any matching accessories except wraps and finding matching headgear online has been kind of a headache.Overall, I would still purchase the gloves regardless of the fact that I don't match when I spar, and realistically, if you're not using the gloves in a combat related class or you don't care about being color coordinated, the matching headgear problem isn't even an issue worth worrying about. Conclusively, the 14oz gloves get 5 stars based on their comfortability, functionality, and appearance.

About Everlast
The name Everlast is synonymous with boxing. Renown internationally as a manufacturer of boxing equipment, Everlast started out as a swimwear manufacturer in 1910. Headquartered in the Bronx, NY, the company was founded by 17-year-old Jacob Golomb. The son of a tailor and an avid swimmer, Jacob Golomb was dissatisfied with the durability of swimsuits because they barely lasted a season, so he began making suits that he guaranteed would last for a full year. He proudly gave them the name, Everlast. Although the swimsuits did not last through the years, the name did.
Over the next years, Golomb expanded his company into a small retail store that carried a full line of sports equipment. In 1917, a young fighter named Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb and Everlast. Dempsey asked Golomb to construct protective headgear that would last more than 15 rounds of intensive boxing training. Golomb specially designed the training gear for Dempsey. In 1919, Dempsey won the world's heavyweight championship wearing boxing gloves made for him by Golomb. Everlast became the headquarters for boxing equipment throughout the world. In 1925, Golomb designed elastic-waist trunks to replace the leather-belted trunks then worn by boxers. These trunks, now known as boxer trunks, immediately became famous. Jacob Golomb ran the business until he passed away in the early 1950's and his son, Dan, took over. In 1958, Ben Nadorf joined Everlast and purchased 50% of the company from the Golomb family. When Dan Golomb passed away in 1995, Nadorf purchased the family's remaining 50% interest. Nadorf remained the President and Principle Share Holder of Everlast until October 24, 2000.
Everlast men's and women's apparel and accessories continue today to be tremendously successful both inside and outside the ring. In addition, Everlast boxing trunks and equipment remain the proud and undefeated champion of the boxing industry for more than 90 years. The history continues, as the name states. Everlast has a traditional past and a knockout future.

Everlast Pro Style Training Gloves Review

Everlast Pro Style Training GlovesFirst I want to make a slight correction to the previous reviewer's text: the size/weight of the gloves doesn't change according to the size of your hand but, rather, to the size of you, the user of the gloves. If you are an average sized male you will be hard pressed to find a sparring partner if you only have 10oz gloves: nobody in their right minds would agree to spar with you because with such small gloves the risk of injuring the receiver of the blows goes way up. Hence 16oz is the standard size for sparring gloves. Women can use 14oz and children 14oz and 12oz depending on how big they are. The point with heavier/bigger gloves is to protect your training partner.
Anyway, on with the review: these are good, all-around sparring gloves. Their over-all quality is quite good and even the velcros are done well so you could use these for thai boxing as well without scratching your partner's neck and shoulders when clinching. However, I found that when you put more power behind your punches your knuckles tend to come through a bit so they're not the safest gloves around. Still they are good enough for pretty much anybody who's looking for a good pair of gloves for sparring.
I recommend that you get a separate pair of bag gloves or 10oz gloves for bag and mitt work since hitting the heavy bag and focus mitts harden the leather which, again, makes the gloves more dangerous to use in sparring. Remember to wrap your hands and wrists when hitting the heavy bag in order to avoid knuckle, wrist, and shoulder injuries.
Everlast is a good company and for the most part they make quality products. These gloves do what they are supposed to do.

Everlast Rocky Desktop Speed Bag Review

Everlast Rocky Desktop Speed BagThis is a great Everlast product and while there may be better desktop speedbags out there, none of them have the licensing of Rocky i am sure. I stuck it to my ceiling and have not had it fall off once from lots of usage from friends and family. Aside from the air pump being cheap, this is a solid purchase for any boxing or Rocky fan.Off topic but does anyone know why it won't let me list this item? Does Amazon randomely remove products from its inventory?
